1970s, USSR. 16-year-old Sonya, who lives like most of the Soviet youth, with faith in ideals and a bright future, suddenly faces the dark side of life. She falls in love with a young man named Sergei, who introduces her to another law, not the Soviet one, but the thieves' one. The law of thieves forces Sergei to betray his and Sonya's love. This law takes away Sledge's father, destroys his mother, brother, Sonya herself miraculously remains alive after Sergei buries her alive in the cemetery.
